Sociasylum is a new band from Estonia, playing none other than new age Grindcore. The band was formed in 2011, and Crossroads is their second album. I must admit, these guys made a lot of preparations for this massive release. The design is nice, dark colors, gloomy concept altogether these components are making a very cool image. Sound is good, a bit modern but loud and fits perfectly to all 11 songs.
When I put this CD into my stereo I had to increase the volume, because I wanted to consume the atmosphere of this album. This Blackened Grind/Hardcore can bite, haha. I can't highlight any of these songs because each of them is a part of a bigger picture. The structure of many of these tracks contain disarrayed verses that lay a chaotic groundwork. I`m not particularly a big fan of modern extreme music, but the guitars with their peculiar dissonance nailed me. I like the drums, blasting parts have precise speed and sound. Besides the Grind/Crust base there is a lot of swing moshing Hardcore notes in the whole structure. That makes the music more dynamic. Of course, we have the usual problem with the bass guitar, it`s cluttered with all the other instruments (I believe that's because of the compressed sound). Thankfully that compression has no effect on the atmosphere of the whole album, so it sounds deep and dark.

Napalm Ted / Mustasuo
The gloomy land of Finland has given birth to many great bands. Yes, this country is mostly known for its metal bands, but there (in the deepest and darkest caves) are many interesting grind and near grind squads. So today we will listen a really heavy (almost 100 gram! hahah) split 7” with two unordinary bands. As with almost all Finnish extreme albums/releases this 7” has a dark atmosphere and noticeable influence from black metal. I do not want to torture you with long and empty words, so allow me to start with the first band - Napam Ted!
This band with weird name has 3 members, they're trolls located in Oulu. The sounds that come from their dark cave are pretty unusual. Mostly these tunes are based on extreme metal, but guys managed mix that with a solid portion of Grind and Crust. Their songs are fast, their sound is sharp and their roars are loud. That's how I can describe their crazy music. All 4 songs are short bursts of screaming energy (not much longer than 2 minutes). Also the whole side is pretty much riffy and unboring. Some of the parts remind me of Napalm Death and some Macabre…
Next up are nasty blackned punks from the evil and dark forest! Hm, I dont know how to start. I find a lot of good things on this record, also I have found some bad stuff… I guess I will write about the good things. This record has a lot of good and interesting punk riffs and solos. These songs are impregnated with a solid load of heavy energy and of course that d-beat goodness. But the main negative I have is with the vocasl. I dont know how the vocals were recorded, but they stand out from the rest of the recording. I guess the problem is in bad mixing? Well we have what we have. Hope that guys will solve this problem on the next record!

Disgorgement Of Intestinal Lymphatic Suppuration - Long Live The New Flesh! (Uterus Productions)
I found this CD in a big pack from the Italian Gore label and I really can’t say that I was not excited to have it. I never much liked this band, but anyway I will try to write with maximum honesty (without any prejudice) words about this album. If I remember right this French project consist of only one person. The guy tagged his music as Goregrind, but it sound more like primitive black metal. Honestly just listen the first track… I'm pretty sure that he is trying to create something close to the creativity of Llymphatic Phlegm, but, in my opinion, he failed. Also I`m sure that this project has many fans, but I didn’t find anything interesting here. Thentunes are boring (however the first few riffs in 3rd songs were nice) and these strange distorted vocal are one of the worst kind of vocals I've heard. And then, theres the sound of the drum machine, very annoying. Oh, almost forgot here is one thing that I liked… Its different samples (music or from films) they are really good. So as you can see “Long Live The New Flesh! “ is not the best way to spend your time my dear boys and girls…

Lionskull
"We started to play together in 2014 as a groove/thrash metal band. In about 2 years we made few songs and recorded them, but they didn't feel powerful enough. So our drummer took his old Boss HM-2 out from the drawer when we were at rehearsals and the guitarist tried it, and we were immediatly sold. Then the music started to take form into a faster and brutal course.
We didn't want to get stuck in a narrow style, we just want to make songs that sound evil and are fun to play, it can be fast or slow."

Discophobia / Slecht (Vleesklak Records)
It's impossible to release only good stuff all the time, something messy and shitty can always happen. After listening to this material I understood that this split is one of the worst Vleesklak Records releases. I never heard these bands before so I didnt expect nothing speсial from them... but I still would like to ask one big question "why would someone release something like that on vinyl?"...
Discophobia - if I understand correctly it`s one more project from belgian maniac who`s standing behind VRV band. Honestly I have tried to listen to that stuff but I havent found any interesting for myself. It sounds pretty boring. Just some incomprehensible mixture of black metal and goregrind with drum machine noise...
Slecht - one more belgian band and for this time it`s just pure black metal. But it`s not interesting too. Mostly it`s the same boring thing as Discophobia and I didnt like them too. In my opinion this release does not merit the cost that was spent on it ... would be better to release it on some diy tape.

Backwoods Butcher Records!
Backwoods Butcher Records isn't a real record label; it's just a name made up to put over the address on my own bands' releases. After many years of putting out records on other people's labels, I figured it was time to go back to the true DIY ways and waste my own money putting out my own records again. I don't sign bands, don't have a distro, don't waste money buying ads in stupid heavy metal magazines and don't do the greasy used car salesman routine on social media. Zero aspirations to do anything other than release my own music. What's more fun than that? Check it out or fuck off. Thanks!

Stheno - Liberty Crawls In Waste (Everydayhate)
It happened so that I write a review on every release of this greek maniacs, one can say that I'm monitoring and describing every step of them, hehe))) After couple of splits and one EP it is clear that these guys should move forward. And it is absolutely predictable and logically that Polish label Everydayhate got its hands on their first long-playing album. So, what do we have here? Well, the guys wrote 13 songs for their first real baby (not bad). The first thing which your eye notices is the art which is beautiful in some way. It is very dark (especially the background with abandoned houses) but at the same time it has a type of elegance.
The album itself starts with an interesting intro which multiplies the dark atmosphere of the artwork...Those sounds of chains, they make your flesh creep :). Just after the intro we hear fast, powerful and straightforward Stheno which is common for us. As I have mentioned earlier I'm familiar with all works of these guys so I can see which way their music is going with time. On the album Liberty Crawls In Waste I could mark that the guys have added more metal to their sound, they came back to their black metal basis. Grindcore is present here too but it isn't dominating, while the spirit of crust left their music almost completely. The work has very solid sound, everything is at a high level (as for me I prefer raw stinky sound, but for Stheno the "clear" sound is proper). All songs are connected with each other by one hardly prominent thread which makes this album very conceptual, I think.

Gonkulator – Reborn Through Evil (Fudgeworthy Records)
Welcome to the category "sometimes they're coming back." It took american psychos from Gonkulator long 10 years to spit out this new full-length stinking bunch of noise.
Quite interesting feature of the album is the fact that it is divided into 2 parts, each contains 5 tracks. Baron Side begins with epic music from 70s movie (at least it seems to me that I've heard it somewhere). And then something really evil begins. Certainly, the info booklet mentions that Gonkulator plays noise-black, but in my opinion there's a lot more stuff mixed here. To me there is plenty of good old punk as well. Even if there is no fast rhythm, guys do some good brain-drilling noise. Most of all I like the sound of bass, it sounds like some old metal grinding machine.
Cemetery Side begins with a fast rhythm, a sort of raw metal and cave punk with loud roaring vocals. Well, I can also hear some slow atmospheric pieces further (not without noise of course). This side contains most of the old primitive raw black as well. And the end is just noise with sounds of thunder, this vinyl makes it sound incredibly beautiful ...
Oh, there is another very interesting fact about this release. It was recorded on the full moon. And even the color of vinyl reminds me of big white moon in clouds (very beautiful and unusual color).

The Vanishing Act / G.O.D. (Self release)
In the last couple of years the Canadian scene reminds me of some
footage from the film about the aliens (the point where the queen lays a
lot of eggs), there is more and more new bands appearing, and older
groups are shaking their old bones as well. The Vanishing Act fully
confirms its name, these guys were away for a couple of years and now
here you are, a new fresh split with G.O.D. (Album, which made a lot of
noise last year). The interesting thing is that the guys are not only
sharing the space on split, they also made the front cover together,
that's what I call true friendship)) Oh yes, there are two variants of
this cassette - for Europe, released by Grindfather Productions in all
sorts of colors, and a self release - the main difference here in
cassette itself. Self-release is made of semi-opaque purple plastic and
logos are painted, no stickers. This option plays very good with the
cover art.
Grotesque Organ Defilement begin their part with a very interesting intro that rocks the listener. The second track is already a fast goregrind tornado. Signature snare drum sound - you won't confuse it with anything. I think that's because so many people love this band. Throughout almost whole side guys do not slow down, even when playing a cover of Machetazo. And only in the cover of the Polish Squash Bowels they go much slower.
The Vanishing Act were able to record 4 tracks. The content has death-grind core, but it is very audible and there's also some black-metal experiments included. I still remember the epic ending of "Plagiario". ANd the track called "Dead Friends" seemed almost pure black. By the way, this track is there for some special purpose, guys dedicated their part of the split to their dead friends ...
