Cruel Face / Matka Teresa (Extreme Terror Prod)

I never liked live recordings, because most of them sounds very dirty... Same thing with this split. But that is not the point, the point is a friendship. Both bands used their old material to do a split in the name of friendship and mutual respect. But, I got this tape for review, so that`s what I'm gonna do right now.  

The recording of Matka Teresa was made at Bloodchet Fest, back in 2013. Like most live records, this one is raw and dirty, but somehow it doesn't sound like total garbage. I can clearly hear vocals, drums and guitar... which is the positive side of this material. Unfortunately, everything is messed up, so it's hard to hear the riffs, cymbals and snare drum sometime. BUT, this record perfectly conveys the atmosphere and energy of the festival. I especially like screams of the fans here, with them you realize that this is really live tape.

Brazilian veterans from Cruel Face recorded this material just few years ago (2015, 74 Club / Sao Pailo). Hmm, here is the same thing as with MT side. The sound is messy and dirty, it's hard to clearly understand the image, but I catch a lot of good heavy energy. This band produces a really low and heavy sound, and I can feel it even though interference. There are some moment when you can clearly hear the bass guitar and cymbals, so I can recognize some of their songs, but mostly this recording is a mess too.

Cruel Face / Disturbance Project

This split represents an evil portion of grindcore that will cleanse your body and your mind from unnecessary and bad thoughts. Damn, the noise content of this split completely match its cover ... these vivid sounds are like a soundtrack of the riots. I think that the artist felt the same way and redistributed these emotions and mood into his artwork. The first ones to knock out all the shit from your brains will be Brazilian guys Cruel Face. After their reunion, guys got back down to business pretty fast and keep release new stuff for their listeners enjoyment. 4 new songs were recorded for this split, the first one called War Cry begins with a slow swinging rhythm, but then develops into a powerful and fierce blow to your ears, haha! These songs are strong and heavy, riffs and rhythms, everything is saturated with the spirit of the 90's. This straightforward and insane grindcore is created just to wipe your guts out into powder! 
This sound torture continues with Spaniards Disturbance Project. Their grindcore reminds me of a drilling machine from the movie “Total Recall” (1990) ... a terrible and formidable mechanism which is better to stay away from. Solid, low and adorable sound, firm reefs from Gerardo. Rage and destruction, this is what the Disturbance Project is ( they are considered to be one of the best on Spanish land fpr a reason)! In conclusion, I can only say big thanks for this release, both teams did their best here.

Cruel Face – Eu Amo Desgraça... Por Isso Adoro Muito Tudo Isto! (Grindfather Productions)

Sunny Brazil is famous with not only beautiful women and strong coffee. Fans of grindcore know that this large and green country is also rich with awesome grind bands.Today we are going to listen to the discography of the legendary mammoths - Cruel Face. This is great and very powerful tape release which will immerse you into the history of the life and creative work of this band. "Eu Amo Desgraça.." It’s a monolith which contains 59 songs. It includes all songs from splits and compilations, and most importantly, there is a full-length album (it is acting as the core of its release). Cruel Face performs dirty mid-tempo grindcore that will make you crawl in pain. It penetrates under the skin, flows in the veins and explodes in your brain. You can compare these lethal rhythms with the savage axe, the axe that repeatedly digs into you, tearing the flesh. Many people say grindcore is very monotonous thing (Yes, some stupid people talk like that), but CxFx play very diverse stuff. There's a lot of old school gridcore (something like Napalm Death and Terroriser stuff), there are songs with large share of punk, and sometimes there’s something from minscore. I think we can safely say that this discography will be able to quench the thirst of discerning of listeners.

Hi Alex, things are ok but not fine. Fucking political and economical crisis in Brasil also we`re watching, trying to fight against ignorance. The school models are shit so it?s easy to see the growth of shitty ideaas as prejudice and so on. It`s been raining quite often. Season change is like this. Then from dec to feb is rain season.

X-Torsion / Cruel Face (Sengaja Records)

Honestly speaking, this split was one of those 2015 releases which I was waiting for. And after I finally listened to it, I realized that waiting was not for nothing! So I will not go into long introduction, I'll start right on the part of the Spanish... X-Torsion already has one full-length album behind, so now they decided to deliver some fresh stuff on split release. The visual part reminds of (and perhaps it is a follow up to) the first album cover art, everything with the same funny black humor of gore / horror picture. But fresh tracks surprised me, in a good way of course. The sound became a bit more aggressive and fat. It feels that the boys added more grind to this record. It goes fast and cool. Progress is visible and it is very good. Cruel Face - Brazilian veterans. After a long break for fucking 8 years they are back in business. Brazilian visual part is rather bizarre. Huge black widow spider (with a female face) is doing some terrible things to several representatives of Homo Sapiens species)) By the way, one of the founders and the constant participant of this band is Alex from Rot (and this dude is able to cut a good riff). For this split, they recorded 4 fresh tracks... What can I say, that is strong shit. Uncomplicated rhythms easily penetrate the brain and just rip it into pieces. Of course the material is straightforward, but it is a feature of the Brazilian grindcore, for which everyone loves it.

Agathocles & Cruel Face (Contra Boots)

When touring and contaminating our planet with mincecore contagion, Agathocles leave lots of live recordings in their trail every here and there. Well, many of them are lowly. After Agathocle’s grandiose Brazilian tour, this split came to light that way. The gig was a tuneful cooperation with Cruel Face (who have kept silence lately) in Sao Paulo city. This very split caught my attention because the concert was recorded in a befitting way, the sound was scaled from the panel and re-recorded then. Frankly speaking, I’ve rarely seen anything like that. 
Belgians pensioners present 20 songs. The fathers of mincecore share the prodigious bounce with the fans. The high-quality recording gives the possibility to notice musical miscues, and that’s amusing somehow. Notwithstanding Agathocles turned 30 years (!!!), these gentlemen go on playing best hits. Jan being as how a real rockstar communicates with the crowd. The set is finished by Larm cover… famed in legends! 

Cruel Face set 20 minutes to their part. By contrast with Jan, the Brazilian vocalist was scant of speech, so the guys just threw songs one after another aggressively, which is awesome as well. I haven’t turned much attention to Cruel Face before, and how wrong I was! Their music make an aboriginal rough grindcore. So fast and alive! I like Brazilian collectives for non-experimentalizing. 99% of the set consisted of their own material exept for one neat Rot cover. Brazilian energy purely filled the hall... Oh, I should have visited Sao Paulo! heheh. 
P.S.: This cassette is the first release of one young label- Contra Boots… what can I say to that?... such a lucky move. I hope the label will keep up the drive.
