Violation Wound / Ruin (Fudgeworthy Records)
I
want to start this review off with a warning. This album is not for
those of you who hope to find sweet and lovely pop punk tunes or
something to cheer your damn ass up. This split is loaded up with
very heavy crushing power. Also I should mention that this split is
really unholy, starting with the music and ending with this nice
cover art.
The
green vinyl looks so badass in this black sleeve. That is what I
call a robust cover that perfectly fits the noise. All these dead
guys look so dark and spooky, main character is pierced with upside
down cross… Terrifying image, the artist really catched the whole
idea and spirit, and I respect that.
This
massive split starts with attack of Violation Wound. In my opinion
this band stands out with their approach that they used in their
music. Guys are mixing old school punk with moldy death metal and
with a lethal end result. Great guitar riffs, powerful vocal section.
Bass has a nice loud tune, and the punky drums fit perfectly to
everything above. All 4 songs contains a ton of swing, clockwork
energy.
Now
the second half comes in with old headhunters from Ruin. “Putrid Is
My Brain” is the only track here and it's ridiculously heavy. This
is really unholy sound of hell, haha! The whole sound is a bit raw
and the tune is dangerously low… Savage sound of the bass is the
main here, next is ugly roaring and buzzing guitars. The drums are
the last on the line, but that does not mean they sound weak or
anything like that. This death metal is really scary, slow and
grinding. Also, I've
felt a good stench of sludge and doom metal. This “music” has the
effect of an asphalt compactor to roll you out, breaking the bones
and crushing the flesh.
This
is a real death metal split, and I'm
freaking happy to have it in my collection!

Vômito – Vomitology
My dear friends, today we will plunge into the history of Brazilian gore. I'm holding in my hands the discography of one great and old band (unfortunately dead band). Along with such gangs as Lymphatic Phlegm and Neuro-Visceral Exhumation, Vomito were one of the fundamental bands in that part of our planet. This old vomit stench began to decay in the beginning of the 90's, they existed for around 10 years (maybe a little less). And even in our days many freaks remember Vomito, and this small fact is awesome (and I think this it warms the hearts of the former members of the band).
It's funny that the designer chose this photo for the cover. It's not gore it's some type of healthy food propaganda, hahah)) A big bowl of oatmeal is flipped over, viscous mass on the floor (but honestly to say this photo is disgusting and reminds of a bunch of vomit.
On this Cd you'll find all of their records (some tapes and splits). The whole chronology starts from the year 2000 and ends with the 1994 release (Thus we may see the way from death to birth). The newer songs have more low sound with some death metal Influence… and the old songs are more primitive, with some punk taste (and of course with worse quality). Despite the fact that all the songs were recorded in different time intervals… the whole picture is so disgusting (in a good way), these noises have some dark aura (especially the first records). As you can understand it's old and dirty gore, the tempos are not too fast, there is no pitch shifted vocals or dreadful blast beats… but this is a legacy of old times, and more shit should sound like this.

Asbestosisis - Eaten Back In Time
Fuck! Aahahha! I really dont know why nobody ever made a cover like this one, of course this crossover art between Cannibal Corpse and Iron Maiden looks stupid, but on the other hand it`s very funny, ahah! As you already know guys from Asbestosisis have a good sense of humor, but also they are good in music (okay in noise) too! So for them this year started pretty well, they released new album called `Eaten Back In Time` which contains 10 rotten and smelly songs. The 10th song comes to an end it`s a time to describe the thoughts that ran inside my brain while I listened to this CD. So first of all I was pleasantly crushed by bass guitar sound... the whole sound is good and I like it (although there are parts where everything goes into mess), the sound is full with low frequencies and it`s sweet. Gurgling vocals completes massacre that was started by buzzing guitars... For myself, I noted two good rhythmic directions in this songs. First of all it`s deadly fast pieces (as Leatherface shreds another college boy to pieces with his huge chainsaw) and a second one is echoing low, slow and atmospheric rhythms (they are like a slime from the Blob movie, wraps you slowly). In conclusion, I can only say that I`m looking forward to the next work of these Australian punks! ;)

Prisoner 639 / StevexJobs
The first thing that caught my attention in this release is a photo on the cover. Hell, I've seen a lot of things but such action I see for the first time. I do not know what kind of sick mind could come up with to harness the hippo in the wagon. Ahah, weird stuff))) On this split you will find a confluence of two strange powerful violence bands from Belgium and Argentina. Perhaps I'll start from the Prisoner 639. With using only bass and drums the music of these guys that sounds very hard and noisy. Their powerful violence quite primitive and very aggressive, some kind of cavemen music spiced with different noises. In their songs it feels great the low gutter bass that makes an excellent shake to the brain. Usually, it is a typical for such genre tempo changing, as well as a bit chaotic madness. There are some songs of normal length and very short one that more closely resemble to noise-core. In general, it is a very pleasant noisy-powerful violence.
If I'm not mistaken, StevexJobs - it is the first Argentine band that I got for reviews. In contrast to Belgians, these guys use a guitar although it really sounds quite dry...but it is full of mindless and enjoyable experiments such as some punk rock and hard rock moments (as in the song Rol), ahah) All tracks sounds cheerful and a little bit unusual and it is very amusing.

Backwoods Butcher Records!
Backwoods Butcher Records isn't a real record label; it's just a name made up to put over the address on my own bands' releases. After many years of putting out records on other people's labels, I figured it was time to go back to the true DIY ways and waste my own money putting out my own records again. I don't sign bands, don't have a distro, don't waste money buying ads in stupid heavy metal magazines and don't do the greasy used car salesman routine on social media. Zero aspirations to do anything other than release my own music. What's more fun than that? Check it out or fuck off. Thanks!
