Cystoblastosis - Post-Mortem Examination Of Putrid Corpse (Cemitério Records)

Ah, finally my slow ass managed to take time to take a closer look at this album. Russian Mincegore band Cystoblastosis have grown so much, and now they are pretty famous in noise underground. So after tons of splits, these guys finally recorded their first (hopefully not last) full length album.
Speaking about “Post-Mortem Examination Of Putrid Corpse”, let's open the jewel case and look inside. Well what can I say? The whole design is “classic” and sick, I'm sure that it can make somebody vomit, haha! There is a lot of rotten and disgusting human guts and meat on the main art and inside, if you`re fan of these things then you will love this conceptual smelly design.
32 tracks in under thirty minutes, and not a single one is filler or just an instrumental. That’s right, each song no matter how short or long. Is stuffed with a nice portion of pitch shifted vocals, punky drumming and heavy guitar there is no lyrical bullshit. These Russians know how to play groovy tunes. But I want to be honest, I can't call this album brilliant… This was nowhere near their strongest work in their discography. Sure, there are some good tunes on here, but for the most part it’s just bland. It's simply not as memorable as usual 😞 I still like the goofy drums with the hollow sound of the snare. I found few good catchy riffs (but there are many of them that sound to slow, looks like the guitar player was too lazy to play them, haha). But the vomiting roars have a good balance with the other instruments, and they sound great.
Its sad to realize that the first album from Cystoblastosis turned out this way. But, on the other hand it was a necessary step in their history. Because now they are playing really strong shit!.

Haemorrhage - Anatomical Inferno (Cemitério Records)

Historically speaking, the Gore outfit known as Haemorrhage is quite significant. This act started more than 25 years ago and the guys are still running their bloody mission. That is impressive and it's worth the respect… Today I picked up the re-issue of the 3rd album of this Spanish machine - Anatomical Inferno. This massive album was released in 1998 and during its years of existence it has been re-released many times. The version I will speak about was released by Brazilian label Cemitério Records. This CD has “new” cover art that depicts greedy pathologists that dismember human bodies with tangible pleasure. Luisma (the guy who is in charge of guitar in Haemorrhage) has created a powerful conceptual combination on bloody parts, crazy characters and a maniacal story that perfectly conveys the music of this band.

This album is swarming with disgusting and pathological themes. Blood, formalin and putridity is everywhere in these songs 😉 Besides the atmosphere of a morgue this monster has an old and thunderous sound, which tastes a bit moldy but so good.
Probably the most important thing I have to point out is the average speed of the record - like a rusty saw slowly slicing your flesh. The vocals are pretty emotional and ugly. My fantasy draws a scary, ugly butcher maniac who is yelling while he is trying to startle and catch up with his victim. The bass guitars hit like a gravedigger's spade plunging into the sad and lonely ground. Small pieces of screaming guitar solos brings me back to the Carcass era, and of course the whole buzzing tune sounds great. Everything above is spiced with slimy tremorous and punky drums.

The album's length is 30 minutes and I think that's how it should be, 30 is enough to enclose you in the pit with rotten remains and smash your psyche, haha!

Gore ‎– Consumed By Slow Decay

Okay folks no jokes this time. Today we have a really legendary album from old Brazilian gore masters. Originally this album was released more than 20 years ago, but “Consumed By Slow Decay” is still very strong and good. This piece of rot was re-released a few times, I hold in my hands the CD version which was pressed in 2016. This re-press has an old cover, a bunch of old and new band photos and new sound. These noises were remastered by Glésio Torres (Old Grindered Days Recs). The whole material has no super extreme speed and ultraviolent drum technic. This album is just another good example of old style goregrind. But I must admit that with new sound, this ugly album is much more interesting. Now a wall of brutal sound (which is created by a combination of guitar and bass) has a little bit deeper and low tone. Pichshifted roars sound more dreadful. But it doesn’t mean that with new sound this album lost it's atmosphere. NO! NO! NO! This album is still full of pale maggots and mold smell. So if you are interested in history of Gore music then you definitely need to check out Consumed By Slow Decay! Rating: 8/10 Gore fb

Vômito – Vomitology

My dear friends, today we will plunge into the history of Brazilian gore. I'm holding in my hands the discography of one great and old band (unfortunately dead band). Along with such gangs as Lymphatic Phlegm and Neuro-Visceral Exhumation, Vomito were one of the fundamental bands in that part of our planet. This old vomit stench began to decay in the beginning of the 90's, they existed for around 10 years (maybe a little less). And even in our days many freaks remember Vomito, and this small fact is awesome (and I think this it warms the hearts of the former members of the band). It's funny that the designer chose this photo for the cover. It's not gore it's some type of healthy food propaganda, hahah)) A big bowl of oatmeal is flipped over, viscous mass on the floor (but honestly to say this photo is disgusting and reminds of a bunch of vomit. On this Cd you'll find all of their records (some tapes and splits). The whole chronology starts from the year 2000 and ends with the 1994 release (Thus we may see the way from death to birth). The newer songs have more low sound with some death metal Influence… and the old songs are more primitive, with some punk taste (and of course with worse quality). Despite the fact that all the songs were recorded in different time intervals… the whole picture is so disgusting (in a good way), these noises have some dark aura (especially the first records). As you can understand it's old and dirty gore, the tempos are not too fast, there is no pitch shifted vocals or dreadful blast beats… but this is a legacy of old times, and more shit should sound like this. Triturador – Extreme Cranial Explosion (Cemitério Records)

Honestly to say I didn't expect anything interesting from this CD... Very simple bloody cover artwork (who can be surprised by an exploded head?). The first impression suggests to skip this release. If I saw this album in the music shop, then I wouldn’t buy it. But it`s only a first impression which is not true. In fact this album is very good! Honestly, I didn't expect something like this, guys from Triturador did great work. Okay let's take a look at the band history... This band started 10 years ago, and to be honest their early material is not so good. But, years had passed and these Brazilian maniacs made a really bloody blast. The "Extreme Cranial Explosion" was by far different from previous works. I would say the main tone in this album is a good low sound. Simple rhythmic structures create nice decent vibrations. These sounds, guitar riffs (and some other elements) remind me (just a little) of a famous "Brain Corrosion" album (from Dead Infection in case if somebody forgot that :)). Also I like the fact that the members used few different vocal arrangements with some loud screams and roars (It seemed to me that this guy is trying very hard to imitate style of Jaro, hehe). Rating: 8/10 Triturador

Crotch Rot / Shitfun (Cemitério Records)

Grind split? Good. Grind split with two Brazilian bands - it's even better! This split might be old... and it`s already begun to rot... but I really want to review this example of a primitive Brazilian grindcore. The first band on this split is a band with a cute name Crotch Rot. It`s hard to believe, but there are two girls playing in this band and you have to agree that it`s pretty rare for goregrind. Their primitive and aggressive song reminded me a bit of the Czech grind scene... Why? That's all because there are a lot of stupid, primitive dance rhythms with odd silly vocals. There is no piercing straightforwardness that is common for Brazilian grind bands (the gold standard, so to speak), but it doesn't mean that this material sucks. I guess I was surprised by the unusual material and their desire to sound like European bands. There is a very good combination of screams/pig gruntings (without distortion) and vocals with pitshifter. But truth be told, I cannot say that I liked Crotch Rot very much...

However, I really liked Shitfun, local residents of the Brazilian ghetto. Their music has absolutely no hint of a variety and experimentalism. The guys do not bother about complicated rhythms and guitar riffs, this duo is playing what they like. They play straight, primitive and armor-piercing grindcore. Simple, strong, dirty and noisy... this music is definitely not for the fans of Antigama or Nasum, ahaha!

Rating: Crotch Rot - 6.5   Shitfun - 7.5

Pancreatite Necro Hemorrágica – Grossy Hymns For Grotesque Pathology

If you missed for good goregrind then this review is recommended for reading. Dark Brazilian catacombs it's the place where corresponding bands are born... there is dark, damp and disgusting smell and that place is so full of human remains. I really liked this new album from man-eaters Pancreatite Necro Hemorrágica, and it is obviously that this album has taken its place on the shelf among other brazilian gore CDs :) Design of this CD contains a very high concentration photos with images of different ugly human bodies (I was seriously afraid that the parcel with such disgusting content will not pass through the border of my country, hahaha).

After I listened to this album I can definitely say that these guys did disappoint neither themselves nor their scene, the sound and material has very characteristic features, inherent to the Brazilian goregrind bands. Whole songs are pretty vigorous, guys recorded 25 and the sound mastering is good too. The guitar and bass sound is dense, dirty and low, and it’s very great! Also I hear that here there is a little influence from death metal side (just a little but I hear some Carcass notes), just listen it and you will understand what I'm talking about. Also worth special mention that offensive gurgling vocals, it's like a cherry on the cake…
