Sorry guys but, this review will be a bit short. Why you ask? Because these Canadian lumberjacks have crushed my mind with their noise and I see no need to write too many words about all my feelings. You should check this tape for yourself.
Well the design is cheesy, all this masked Mince boys has become pretty boring nowadays. Also logo cearly designed designed around the Terrorizer style. That does not surprised me… but the main trick is hidden in the music!
KickxAssxViolence as a trio managed to create a very strong mix between Grindcore, Mince, Powerviolence and Crust. That delicioua mess will weigh heavy on your ears. I was really surprised about the balance in the songs. Swing and catchy Mince riffs, powerful energy of Grindcore, goofy D-beat, and a drop of Violence. Everything above is wrapped in a solid, powerful sound.
So this tape has really kicked my ass, thats how I feel haha! If you like good noise, just check “Broviolence” I bet you will like it!

Napalm Ted / Mustasuo
The gloomy land of Finland has given birth to many great bands. Yes, this country is mostly known for its metal bands, but there (in the deepest and darkest caves) are many interesting grind and near grind squads. So today we will listen a really heavy (almost 100 gram! hahah) split 7” with two unordinary bands. As with almost all Finnish extreme albums/releases this 7” has a dark atmosphere and noticeable influence from black metal. I do not want to torture you with long and empty words, so allow me to start with the first band - Napam Ted!
This band with weird name has 3 members, they're trolls located in Oulu. The sounds that come from their dark cave are pretty unusual. Mostly these tunes are based on extreme metal, but guys managed mix that with a solid portion of Grind and Crust. Their songs are fast, their sound is sharp and their roars are loud. That's how I can describe their crazy music. All 4 songs are short bursts of screaming energy (not much longer than 2 minutes). Also the whole side is pretty much riffy and unboring. Some of the parts remind me of Napalm Death and some Macabre…
Next up are nasty blackned punks from the evil and dark forest! Hm, I dont know how to start. I find a lot of good things on this record, also I have found some bad stuff… I guess I will write about the good things. This record has a lot of good and interesting punk riffs and solos. These songs are impregnated with a solid load of heavy energy and of course that d-beat goodness. But the main negative I have is with the vocasl. I dont know how the vocals were recorded, but they stand out from the rest of the recording. I guess the problem is in bad mixing? Well we have what we have. Hope that guys will solve this problem on the next record!

Procrastinate - s/t
The end of the year is
rich with good releases. Now we have a lot of great grind stuff also doom and
sludge albums, so now it's time for some Crust! For today’s review I picked up
a brand new LP from Greek Crusties Procrastinate. This album has a beautiful
design but, the main cover art can deceive you. First look at this picture made
me think that I'm holding in my hands, some sort of art rock album. It's hard
to guess that this band is playing crust, haha! Also inside of the paper case
you will find a huge poster with bird skulls and bones in it. Before starting
work on this review, I've listened all the previous releases of this band (in
order to make a bigger picture in my head). And now I can honestly say that
Procrastinate has changed (changed in a good way of course). It starts from the
material as a whole (now its become more interesting and melodic) and ends with
the sound.
I`m sure that guys
worked very hard, so that’s why this album is seriously good. This self titled
album is catchy and it has many memorable parts, mostly because of the melodic
riffs in almost every single song. Guys managed to create a good atmosphere
here, it`s pretty gloomy and dark (Greek bands love to do that sort of thing,
it`s like their own brand mark and it could be compared with Swedish style).
Also I can say that this album is pretty emotional, its rich with many negative
feelimgs such as aggression, melancholy, anger and doom. The songs contain each
and every element that would make up the perfect picture of a harsh future and
reality. I must notice that all these melodies in this album don’t make it
softer. The guitar and bass sounds sharp and retains a sense of brutality. The
same can be said about great drummer and singer work. So in the end I can only
say that this album is worth a listen.

On this day, 4 long years ago Good Guys Go Grind was born. Lead by a man who's passion for reviewing and listening to music continues to drive him forward today. Good Guys Go Grind seemed to explode over night and became one of the biggest Underground Media outlets in the Extreme Music community. Now, the 2 man team of Alex and Shawn push ahead into the unknown. Where will the future take us?

Happivaje - S/T
My friend introduced me to Happivaje, saying they are a great piece of raw Crust. I remember only that I really liked their dirty EP back in the day. And then I just simply forgot about these Finnish punk bastards. Until now, when I found this tape inside my mail box. As this band is pretty unknown I feel that I should shed light on them. Happivaje consists of 4 units, they are based in Joensuu, and yes these punks are all native Finns. This 9 song, self-titled record is their debut (and it is a very good one). All this noise is wrapped in a classic (I guess I can say that) grindcore cover. This collage looks pretty dreadful; all these elements (theme of tracking, blind children, “big brother is watching you”) create nice dark atmosphere.
This tape starts with a very classic intro (as for crust punk of course), few short riffs, good punk solo and then an endless wall of raw energy. I do enjoy the crunchy downtuned bass and distorted rhythm guitar. Both of these instruments sound very filthy on this recording and it suits the Crust Punk atmosphere well. Drums sound a little bit sloppy but I really love that (that brings more points to the whole sound). The vocalist did a great job too, he is spitting out lyrics with such anger and this also effects the whole atmosphere. Almost all the songs consist of straight-up speed attacks, sometimes it seems that I hear pure grind (like in an Aivopesty song). Well now I really don't know what more I can add... Just try to listen to this EP on your own folks, I`m pretty sure that you will like it.

Dehumanized Earth / Dis-eased (Outrageous Defecation Records)
As many of you know the Crust scene in Canada is pretty large. There are a lot of great bands, but not many of these are more or less famous. So today we will try to examine in detail and dissect this split. Let’s start with a small introduction… Both of them are from Quebec City and both of them are suffering (in the case of Dis-eased – suffered, because the band split up 10 years ago) from crust punk disease. Small and unnecessary fact: some of the guys from Dehumanized Earth also played in Septicémie (one more unknown name) and boys from Dis-eased played (and still play) in Mesrine.
Everything starts here with “Arnaque Légal”. Classic d-beat parts, raw sound, ugly yelling and some riffs (I noticed here a lot of metal riffs as well). Unfortunately this DxEx material is not memorable at all (especially in comparison with their Fausses Croyances album). But, these 4 songs are not so bad… They have some punk spirit and groovy punk rhythms. But, I didn’t feel their premium dark and suffering atmosphere here. I didn’t feel depression and pain (like on their split with Global Holocaust) in these noises. It`s definitely not the best stuff from this band.
And now let’s switch to Dis-eased. Unfortunately these guys recorded only two songs for this split, but these tracks are rad! Both songs are rich with great thick guitar sound, sweet solos (especially in “Inside Deep”), aggressive screaming and roaring. I can say the same about the bass and drums parts. It`s seems like this concentration of d-beat and riffs can explode at any second! Both songs exude a big load good and powerful punk energy, and I feel a little sorry that this band doesn’t play anymore.

Scab - Scab Presents: Nuclearth
Today we sit down to listen to some Dbeat Grind/Crust brought to us by Pennsylvania 2 Piece Scab! From the start we are given a very minimalist cover design. Simple black cover with the band logo and what appear to be bullet casings. Nothing over the top, but simultaneously I'd like a little more to look at. Enough about the art though, that's not why we came here. From the beginning we are force fed blistering Dbeat goodness. Riff after riff come trampling forth like a wild stampede. And an array of vocal variety come out swinging for the fences. I can't put my finger on it, but they ever so mildly remind me of another band I'm familiar with. From beginning to end this release is relentless in almost every aspect. The lyrics resonate with the listener and the power of every chord is felt deep inside. You can really tell emotions were poured into this album. I highly recommend this release to anyone looking for some fresh underground Grind from the States that sticks out in the crowd.
