Let's dedicate this day to old school times (when all letters were written on real paper) and bands (which never used triggers and other bullshit). For this special review we picked up a pretty intense and aggressive split between Mexican legends Anarchus and American veterans Ruin. This small buzzing CD was released through Polish Fat Ass Records and this toxic box contains 8 loud songs (4 from each side). Unfortunately I didn't find any info about the artist that was in charge of this grotesque art. But he/she did a fantastic job, this gloomy picture is perfectly matched with the noises inside. I guess I can describe this artwork with something like “we need more death in the name of money and profit”. Hope I understand that right…
Well I`m really happy that Anarchus is so active. These guys are trying to play in every dirty club over the globe, haha! They already planned to visit USA and Europe. And just a few month ago these dudes released their new album. But let's get back to our story. All 4 songs sound pretty tight, all these noises have clear sound. Occasionally the guitar sounds a little bit dry. In these tunes I felt a big portion of old grindcore mixed with good metal. Sometimes this crazy music train reminds me some sort of satanic metal (especially these parts with double bits). And in the end I want to say a few words about Panchos vocals. That man still has power, and a fire in his heart. His screams are so wild and insane, freaking great work! And that ending sounds so weird, hahaha!
After a long delay (of probably death) Ruin is back to us. The duo has literally ruin power haha! I really liked the atmospheric intro, this church choir sounds very gloomy… And after that part the guys started with good and powerful kick. That kick with such bass guitar sound is so delicious and painful. Buzzing guitar finishes the bloody execution… Also I was really surprised with these acoustic melodies, that part sounds so nice and it perfectly flows into the whole theme. This doomed nasty death metal sounds really nice, despite the middle tempo, this recording is not boring at all. Well if you're looking for good death metal tunes, then you should check this band.
PS: As I know there will be vinyl version of this split. I guess it will be released by Fat Ass Rec.

Malignant Tumour / Squash Bowels (Fat Ass records)
Be careful kids because today we will open an old bag full of pale and ugly maggots. And this year it turns (no fucking way!) 20 years old! So I carefully put the reissue of the MT/SB split, on my turntable. And I must admit that this white color (the color of hospital a ward) is damn good. The whole new design is badass, I mean that all the visuals are reborn in new high quality skin. Front art with a pathological theme reminds me something from Carcass works. This dirty autopsy table, sharp scalpel and the hand of a dead woman… Man, all of this looks so old and nice.
When the MT side started to play I felt some kind of nostalgia. Because these songs are from long ago, when MT played dirty goregrind. The guys opened their side with a cover of Dead Infection (strange choice for the first song, but anyway it sounds good). These songs are full of nasty and noisy sound of guitar and moldy bass (this stuff is especially good for Agathocles covers). And that dull sound of drums… Fuck yes! This old atmosphere can strangle you with it`s crazy heaviness. Also I can't avoid talkimg about those low pitch shifted vocals (it`s so yum-yum). I`m pretty sure that everything I listed above will make you want to vomit, ahhaha!
Squash Bowels is so heavy, oh boy… But this intro, it surprised me a lot (when I heard this split the first time), guys used sound from the Jurassic Park scene (that part where T-Rex is trying to get the children from the shitty car), surprising funny start. But, actually they do sound like one huge ugly and massive dinosaur haha. Polish butchers really know how to get big bloody noise pieces from their instruments. And it`s very sad that they are split up. Personally I like this side a little bit more than the MT side. SB managed to record something fast, heavy, low and disgusting. Between slimy grind riffs you may find many hints of death metal (good old death metal) I guess this is what makes this material sound so dense. Of course a lot of distorted roars and screams make this record even more ugly!

Meat Spreader – Excessive Consumption Of Human Flesh
So they`re back… Old Polish legends gathered together and made something very interesting, something nasty and brutal. Just look at these names: Bass - Artur (ex-Squash Bowels); Guitar - Tocha (ex-Dead Infection); Drums – Radek (Neuropathia) and Voice – Jaro (ex-Dead Infection). So as you'll understand these guys know how to play grind. My postman brought me a parcel with the vinyl variant of this split (which was released by Fat Ass records). This one side bomb contains only 5 songs (it may not be much, but it`s only their first demo). And they are very tasty especially for fans of old grind. The riffs are memorable and in some songs like “Hectic Razor Cut” can drive you crazy. Although this record is raw I really enjoy the whole sound. Jaros voice became even more low, his vomiting style of singing is very recognizable the same can be said about Tochas guitar riffs. Rhythm section aims to suffocate listeners with good beats and thick bass vibrations. Meat Spreader like a big, heavy and ugly beast which roars can scare all grind hipsters, haha!).
Personally, the effect that this record has on me was that it makes me want to get up and crash everything with all the energy in my body. It is a damn fun record with great and powerful tracks.
So guys if you prefer some no nonsense, old school and heavy as fuck goregrind, you will not be disappointed with “Excessive Consumption Of Human Flesh”!

Deterrence / Yattai (Fat Ass rec)
Fresh stuff, guys! Powerful, but short split of Polish Deterrance and French Yattai turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me. Pleasant in terms of material… Polish guys offered us raw and teeth-crushing grindcore. Meanwhile, Frenchies are notable for the craziness of their stuff (I’ll come back to that later).
I know that Yattai use an old picture from their archives for the cover, and to tell the truth I didn’t like it at all. Deterrence offer a whole different story! Their cover artist approached the business quite seriously and depicted all the main woes of humankind, which are destroying our poor planet (turned out to be gloomy but very cool).
Up to my knowledge, it’s the first serious release for Deterrence. The guys offer a short but memorable performance. Sound is raw, but the material is delivered in a way like you’re approached by an old cargo train with broken breaks! These are simple and straightforward songs, and that’s why I like them. Explosive straightforward, social message grindcore with great destructive power. In other words, these guys have done a great job.
Compared to the Poles, the old French guys sound too clean, hahah. But that’s good, cause their cleaner sound makes the split more balanced. Yattai are more crazy in terms of their material, and their songs are full of punk and metal tunes. If Deterrance is an old dirty cargo train then Yattai is a Gatling machine gun, haha. I really liked the sound and the way in which the singer’s screams are interwoven with instrumental parts. All that messy sound is crazy in a good way.
Grade: 8/10 Deterrence Yattai

Hicks Kinison / Corrupt Moral Altar (Fat Ass Records)
It’s a bit hard to find words to describe this release. To be frank, somehow I was unaware of both bands existence, hehe!
Both bands are very different in terms of style, and they have their interesting and unique features. Let’s proceed in order. Side A presents Union of Europe - Hicks Kinison. Their lineup is impressive. You’ll find pieces from Napalm Death, Brujeria, and Vaee Solis. As a result, each of the members added something unique to the band. For instance, «Poets Of The Underground» starts with a mighty flow of crust / sludge, and following on you can distinguish the influence of Napalm Death and Brujeria. It’s hard to call this grindcore, because there’s so much stuff in there. There’re many metal riffs, but there’re a layer of hardcore as well. Moreover, there’s a lot of dark atmosphere just listen to Towards The Edge. The sound is thick and low… there’s no ultra speed, but this sharp-toothed monster doesn’t need it. This machine will crush you because of its mass. And some extra words regarding the cover art. The artist depicted so much stuff, that I can hardly characterize the graphical style used. You can feel the spirit of Antiquity looking at the cover. However, there’re also some Freemason – like symbols. In conclusion, great job.
British Corrupt Moral Altar baked two big cookies decorated with Satan’s symbol, haha
. Damn, the cover artist has a nice sense of humor. To draw a satanic boy scout with biscuits is a something fresh and new, bravo. Side B is outstanding for its speed and brutality. The music of the Island inhabitants has always been notable for its craziness. In their noise, the CMA guys mix lots of stuff: sludge, grindcore, and some metal. Meanwhile, they keep full throttle. This record is full of energy, it feels like the guys have invested a bit of themselves recording these songs. There’re plenty of moments perfectly suitable for a moshpit. The sound is very good as well as the music itself.

Nyctophobic – War Criminal Views (Fat Ass records)
You probably all have already noticed how vinyl format gradually regains its former place. It has turned into a kind of plague (in a good way), a lot of young fans buy vinyl more and more, and people just get acquainted with analog sound again. In the light of these events labels began to republish quite a lot number of significant albums and also explicit shit was edited in abound, ahah). But about good old Germans Nyctophobic for some reason no one has remembered. And only now their debut album came out on this remarkable format. What can I say, this edition looks really impressive, I would even say - monstrously (the theme of the Vietnamese war is fully disclosed here). Separately, the presence of different color variantions of this LP is worthy of attention, as well as a nice bonus for me was a poster inside of it. Perhaps many of us will say that this gang is not full of diversities, speed, etc., but personally I like it. I can not say that the War Criminal Views album can be listened every day, but this work can rightly be considered as one of the powerful bricks in the foundation of the German grindcore history. Medium rhythms, raw sound and unstoppable German obstinacy. This album is like a big ram that hits time after time in a big and strong gate. I wouldn't lie if I mention that there is a complete accordance between the lyrics, the visual range and the music itself - everything is thoroughly filled with the spirit of the good old grindcore.
