Human Cull – Revenant (Death By Digital)

Human Cull is definitely not a new name in Grind. These 3 Brits have been ripping apart the underground for the past 7 years and show no signs of slowing down. So today we sit down to swoon over their most recent offering, Revenant. Just from the cover art, you can tell this package is sure to deliver something tasty for our senses. Depicting multiple towering masses of human bodies interconnected by what seem to be either hoses or veins, not sure which exactly. Off near the bottom left corner of the artwork is depicted to be what looks like some sort of Dark Deity or Evil Conjurer using these souls for his bidding.

Alright now, let’s dive into this record and see what it has to offer us. Boasting tracks that range from 20 seconds to 2 minutes in length.  We kick things off with the ear blistering Harnessing Atrocity; Human Cull waste no time throwing you into a whirlwind of riffs, blasts and ferocious vocals. And it doesn’t slow down from here; each track feels faster and more relentless than the last. The Butcher’s Nails kicks off with a tasty little drum bit before diving face first into rage once more. And then there’s Everyday Paranoia, a song that kicked me in the ears so hard I had to replay it at least 3 times because it became a quick addiction. An Offering to the Machine, one of 2 songs to break the minute and a half mark, is filled with more aggression and hate than I thought possible for human beings.  This album, front to back is Human Cull’s most raw and primal work to date and an absolute pleasure to listen to repeatedly.

Oblivionized / Human Cull (Wooaaargh)

It's time to drink few pints of good beer in local pub. Or you can drink some tea with milk it depends on your tastes. Because this split is a good example of madness of English people. And that's why you should tune in to the right atmosphere before listening tu this vinyl.
Psychos from Oblivionized have 2 tracks on side A. Tight hardcore, with some metal riffs... especially it's audible on guitar accents. We must not forget also for sludge moments which guys add in their crazy music. And I noticed few really small pieces of grindcore, it is good in particular on blasting drum parts. The only thing I did not like are those modern beat-down parts, but on the other hand guys mix so much different stuff so they seem quite logical here. Bristol city is represented by Human Cull. In their work, guys combine fast and ugly grindcore with powerviolence, and of course they don't forget to add some typical english madness in this crazy mix. Very assertive pitch, great sound, I can say that this sound is 99% perfect for this style. You can hear all instruments and there is no sound mess. The sound is sharp like a bayonet on a british soldier's gun. Also I noticed there is a good punk share, which perfectly fits in their songs. I almost forgot to say about art and design on this split. All this stuff was made by some pretty famous guys. A squad on top was drawn by Luis Sendón (Nashgul), and inside picture (that gas mask with chaos star) was made by Arif Rot (Wormrot).

Human Cull - Stillborn Nation

The sky is cloudy today, and it’s time to listen some good grindcore. Human Cull was completely unknown to me until recently… I looked on the Internet and found out that this is British band, relatively fresh blood in underground grindcore. They play new school grindcore mixing it up with crust/sludge/death. In the package from EveryDayHate was their CD named “Stillborn Nation”… I listened to it a couple of times and I should say they remind me of Nasum, Pig Destroyer… The sound is very clean and straight, but this is not disturbing at all, on the opposite, it sounds pretty convincing. I should note fast drummer that doesn’t stumble at all and hysterical vocals. About the cover… Trivial black/white, but still decent work. I didn’t get why is there a plane that throws corn that gradually turn into human skulls… maybe this is something related to Vietnam, and maybe this is a reminder about vegetables that grew on some chemical shit… who knows. Oh, by the way, lyrics are well decorated, the lettering is correctly matched, looks and read cool! Overall, this band is worth listening to.
