Ape Unit/Horsebastard
This split was released earlier in 2017, and what an absolute monster it is! Italian simian madness Ape Unit wanted to join forces with the UK's finest Equestrian blast factory, and boy did they deliver! Just starting with the cover art alone you're immediately intrigued. Depicting a Half Horse Human Hybrid and a Chimpanzee at a table loaded with drugs, food and booze on a background of psychidelic colors and patterns.
On to what we are really here for, the music! Starting with the superbly named Apey side of the split we are greeted with eerie riffs and pounding drums, only to have it shift pace 8 seconds later and turn into a groovy blastbeat party with strange riffs and menacing vocals to top it off. The onslaught only continues from here. With hilarious song titles like Herbalife After Death and, Between the Burger and Me. This raucous group of Ape loving fiends are sure to please!
And of course who can forget Horsebastard? Starting up the horsey side we are greeted with a slowed down and distorted recording of what sounds like someone having really bad drug trip and freaking out. And then we get turned on our head and sandpaper crammed in our ears with the blistering fury of a 100 stallions. Delivering punishing blow after punishing blow, Horsebastard are relentless to say the absolute least. And much like their Italian counterparts in this release they feed us some humorous song titles from the intro track Catastrophic Sobriety to the properly fitting Nostrils Engage. They are the complete package for anyone wishing to have their ears put to death.

Horsebastard / Rageous Intent
A small observation. Both bands are pretty punctual - every year they release something new and it makes us happy. I really dont know in which sick head the idea to combine these two teams was born, but the result is a killer! Lets pass the music side you just look at this art! The artist who painted it all probably drank hallucinogenic tea, heh heh). I can truly say that is one of the most badass covers in this year. Looking at all these characters you will get some good mood for yourself. And if you unwrap cover you will get a big and funny poster with stoned cartoon horse)))
Spanish toreadors from Rageous Intent will be the first who present their songs to us. I must admit that their sound became more tasty. The material remained at the same high level as it was before. It`s fast, fun and aggressive and that is a great combination. Good balance between aggressiveness, brutality and readability of music instruments (if you want you can do those riffs yourself by ear). If you have depression, try these six short songs to help you get rid of it.
Mad dudes from Horsebastard attack again! You have to taste 6 cups with strong burning booze that will mince your brains :) Listening to the new songs, I found myself thinking that guys dont loose their madness. Crazy riffs, fast and aggressive speed, vicious screams and a bit of mushrooms - thats how those english side can be characterized. What is interesting for me in particular is how much water does their drummer have to drink during the live set.

HORSEBASTARD!
Horsebastard
are a 4 piece grindcore/blastcore band from Liverpool (UK) who play
their own brand of "equestrian blastcore".Their musical style consists
of short controlled bursts of blistering blastbeats and chaotic off-time
melodies and rhythms, playing high notes off against low in a style
reminiscent ofDiscordance Axis and Assuck, with flashings of
Excruciating Terror. Blink and you will miss them!
