I won't lie, news about the new album of Italian Grinders Jesus Ain't In Poland has surprised me a lot. Because I was sure that they were in deep and cold hiatus. But our friends were silently preparing a huge portion of noisey material. This hammering album contains 12 songs and more than 1 hour of noise! On this album, the guys tried something new, this massive album is not just pure Grindcore… No Man's Land consists of Grindcore, some Black metal tinges and an atmosphere of doom metal. Maybe some nerdy Grindheads will say “this sucks because it's not Grindcore, there a lot of metal stuff in here too”, but fuck them. Because this album definitely works and it's huge in many ways. The first time I heard No Man's Land I was pinned down to the wall. By the time it was over my mind had melted. This work surprised me with its technical side and its powerful sound. Jesus Aint In Poland managed to embed small ambient moments throughout their Grind mess which melds perfectly. They pieced together fast crushing Grind segments with Doom/Black Metal elements so precisely. Every song has a beautiful, yet suffocating dark atmosphere especially in the end of album. This beautiful specimen is wrapped in a neat little digipack. It has magical artwork with a very emotionally moving art piece. Plus it has the lovely, bitter smell of fresh paint. Boak - Movies (Grindpromotion Records)

Do you believe in love at first noise? Nope? But, Italian monstrous label Grindpromotion Records does! And that is freaking good, because last year this label fell in love with the new work of Boak. So obviously (after jumping from their pants) guys have signed all papers and all materials were sent to the press plant. This record is short (yes that is only one minus) but on the other hand it is full of ferocity… All songs fit on one green side (that's why this format called s-sided ep). By the way did you know that powerviolence bands have a good sense of humor? Look at this silly and funny cover. Guys just use photo of Alien Ant Farm members and put them in this “art”. Looks very stupid but cool, I'm sure the guys from AAF wouldn't understand that joke. But we are here now for jokes so… “Movies” is a quick adventure in the world of violent noise and crazy speed. There is no intro, the band immediately starts their brutal eardrum massage with relentless riffs and blasting energy. Needless to say the violent guitar tone and nice brutal speed are overflowing all six songs. Somehow this madness sounds more like Grindcore, I guess it's because of the tempos and mad blast beats. Under the nails of this EP you may find punk mud with ugly smell of hardcore. These different genre pieces make this record more diverse and memorable (and that is fantastic). When I meet Boak, I'll immediately shake hands with these guys. Because these freaks managed to shove a huge amount of energy, anger, riffs, groove and screams into this 4 minute release (and that is impressive)! Rating: 8.0/10 Boak bc Boak fb

Deadbeat / Boak (Grindpromotion Records)

So we're back to powerviolence, finally haha. This is not a super new split but, believe me this one definitely deserves any PV freaks attention. Two different bands and two different lands. Fresh violent juice from Scottish Boak and the second release ever from Californian bandits Deadbeat... At first glance this cover looks pretty boring but, it`s only our first look. Lets pay attention to the details... First what we can see here is some kind of medal with a dying man inside. I'm sure that this is the main topic and it shows that for every stupid medal stands the human life (many lives). Also, the designer used some photos of prisoners of concentration camps, boots without owners (I think you can guess about what happened to them). Also there is a theme with "big bro is watching you" and of course mind manipulations (x-ray of the skull). And lets stop on this and talk about the noise. Deadbeat are inhabitants of L.A., like I said before they are a young band and it's their second release. Their music is some kind of very extreme hardcore (hardcore on the end of extreme limits) with some powerviolence elements. Almost all songs are shorter then a minute (only "Vile Human" is a little bit longer than 1 min) so everything sounds even faster. I really like these loud yelling vocals. Guitars are pretty heavy and blast beats are intensive. So despite the fact that this record is short these 4 songs are a good example of a violence cocktail. This is an absolute good and painful mess in the very best way. 2 new songs (plus a cover of Eradicate) from the ever interesting Boak. This band is not too active, but every one of their releases receives good reviews. The noise can sew the seeds of sickness inside your head. Okay maybe these guys sounds pretty modern but, they bring absolutely destructive power. All their songs are pretty long (each more than a minute, haha) and full of violent energy. Slow and fast rhythms switch with each other and create real chaos. What else to say? Rating: 8/10 Boak fb Deadbeat fb

Forged - Self-Titled (Grindpromotion records)

When it became known to the public that Forged is going to release new EP, fans if powerviolence were joyed. And I was joyed too, because this band does its best and sounds convincing, their painful noise sticks in your head for a long time. This West Coast Powerviolence band sure has a solid reputation on a local scene, played on a lot of stages and fests, and also are very popular outside of their country, so it means something, right? So let's get into it and figure out what their music is all about. They reminded me a little of good old No Comment, but a lot angrier and with much deeper and wider sound. This vinyl is red quite on purpose, just like its content, displays anger and hate...As I wrote earlier, their sound is amazing, just like the overall vibe. Punchy bass, overwhelming vocals, solid guitar and drums, it all together sound just like a fighting crowd, haha! This angry stuff needs to be heard, but in short bursts and in the morning so you got just enough hate for the day :) Red color suits the overall design. I wonder who is this grim guy with a machete on a photo?)
