Expurgo - Deformed By Law

Expurgo is an old Grindcore band from Brazil. “Deformed by Law” is their second full length album; in my opinion this work is very serious. Everything was done in high quality, starting from the visual part, sound and label promotion. This design is so soaked with the theme of death; that is evident not only in pictures but also in colors. The artist made a huge job of this cover art it looks very delicious, same with the back photo of the mummy. It was very nice to find that inside this digipack, there is all the text and band info (I guess it`s common, but it’s necessary part of each album).

Deformed By Law is a good introduction to Expurgo (for those who don’t know this name), because it’s self-contained and it’s got real Grind power. And you know what? This work is catchy and heavy as hell. Yeah, that’s right. Blasting angry madness that really sticks with you. The lead track “Silence” on this CD, starts off with a slow a but, epic tune… that is preparing you for painful punchy Grindcore. When I heard this album on bandcamp I was pleased with its sound, but when I put the CD in my player I was even more ecstatic. This dynamic sound could crush you, all of the instruments and screams are well mastered. Bass is clearly there, which is lovely to hear for once, since most of these bands don't have a bit of bass behind them. Roars and screams are loud and they don't get cluttered among everything. The guitar tone is dangerous, it’s not super low but it has great buzzing sound. Furious blasting is impressive, so fast and intense, I really like it.
Fans of Grindcore would definitely dig this; this band has proved again that they are badass with this album and on the stage of Obscene Extreme.

Expurgo - "Deformed By Law" is out!

Eight years after the release of the classic “Burial Ground” and very close to the band’s first European tour the exponents of the national Grind Core, the mining machine of destruction is ready for the release of their second album “Deformed by Law.”
“We wanted to represent with this cover the dimension of how laws can manipulate us to the point of disfiguring us, deforming us. Then the question remains: who do the laws, institutions, and all the economic and legal apparatus that serve there? is it? That is, the illustration serves even as a provocation, to really disturb. ” comments the singer Egon.
The new album, released on April 5, 2018 once again via Black Hole Productions in Digipack CD / Digital forma

Expurgo – Burial Ground (Black Hole Productions)

Today we will take a look at another excellent grindcore band from Brazil! As we all know, underground grindcore scene in this country is very strong and today I want to review a band called Expurgo and their album “Burial Ground”. Of course, this album is not new but it is worthy of attention. A whole 29 (!) tracks will be pounding on you with every its might! These guys did not create anything new, but their music is very good! It's very decently played, and beside classic grindcore it could be heard that the guys are under influence from such bands as Machetazo & Impetigo - their influence is obvious. I was especially in love with raw, not overly polished (as in Swedish grindcore) sound. All this raw growling and screaming is just like a cry from the grave! Haha! This is a very rare phenomenon for me, but the front art loses to art on the inside, which is not often seen. The cover shows the simplest zombie apocalypse, which is very common; but the insides is made on the highest level! These dried blood stains on the old yellow paper background… Well-chosen font for lyrics and info, mixed with the excellent picture design is very, very pleasantly surprising for me! Hats off to the designer!
