Expurgo - "Deformed By Law" is out!
Eight years after the release of the classic “Burial Ground” and very close to the band’s first European tour the exponents of the national Grind Core, the mining machine of destruction is ready for the release of their second album “Deformed by Law.”
“We wanted to represent with this cover the dimension of how laws can manipulate us to the point of disfiguring us, deforming us. Then the question remains: who do the laws, institutions, and all the economic and legal apparatus that serve there? is it? That is, the illustration serves even as a provocation, to really disturb. ” comments the singer Egon.
The new album, released on April 5, 2018 once again via Black Hole Productions in Digipack CD / Digital forma

Desalmado / Homicide (Black Hole Productions)
Who wants some Brazilian underground atmosphere and some local grindcore?) Black Hole Productions puts out a release with their compatriots Desalmado and Homicide, and both bands truly deserves attention. But first let's talk about the artwork. It is the first time I see artwork from Marcelo Augusto, and he really surprised me here. His attention to details makes this artwork stand out. Theme of hammering some false values in human brains mixed with some fantastical machinery, really cool.
First band presented on this CD is Desalmado. After some time while listening to them I realized that these guys are really into death metal. Even though you can see them tagged as "grindcore" on the Internet, the influence of death metal is undeniable not only in sound but in songs themselves. The sound here is solid and not as raw as we usually expect from grindcore, and death metal influence is kinda messes up with aggression and speed, they're just not here as much as we expect from this kind of music. No offense to the band, I can hear that they tried their best, but sometimes I got bored while listening.
Homicide sounds way more upbeat. Yes, there is also death metal influence in their music, but not as much as the previous band has and it's not taking over grindcore. Good sound, simple but memorable guitar riffs and a lot of energy coming out from them - that's how I can describe Homicide. Also I should note some crust influenced moments, which always adds up if used correctly (and that's the case here too). I gotta be honest, it's hard to say that this kind of record should be considered as diamond in grindcore scene, but guys are trying really hard to make people want to go apeshit, moshing, jumping, headbanging, that kind of stuff, and in the end of the day - it's all that matters.
Desalmado: 6.5 Homicide: 7.5 You can buy this CD here!

Subterror - Antropomortum (Black Hole Productions)
I must admit that the boss of Black Hole Productions was right when he decided to release a fresh album of Subterror. I just discovered this band for myself, but it looks like my stone heart began to melt, hahaha! This album by Antropomortum is really worth listening to. It has perfect balance in cover art (okay theme of this picture is absolutely not new but it is very cool and one can say that this art is beautiful) and also it has a great balance in music part. I don't know why but in Brazil bands really know how to make great and badass mix between death metal and crust. This country has a big list with awesome bands and of course Subterror belongs to them. This guys skillfully combine old school death metal and crust of old english school (you all know those band so I have no need to name them)
That death metal guitar sound mix with mad crust motives... also that d-beat and roaring vocals. All those will fly like huge fist into your body and rip off your guts! This CD contain only 9 tracks with total length about 25 minutes. And thanks to that, this release is not too long and absolutely not boring - it takes as much time as you need to fully enjoy it.

Expurgo – Burial Ground (Black Hole Productions)
Today we will take a look at another excellent grindcore band from Brazil! As we all know, underground grindcore scene in this country is very strong and today I want to review a band called Expurgo and their album “Burial Ground”. Of course, this album is not new but it is worthy of attention. A whole 29 (!) tracks will be pounding on you with every its might! These guys did not create anything new, but their music is very good! It's very decently played, and beside classic grindcore it could be heard that the guys are under influence from such bands as Machetazo & Impetigo - their influence is obvious. I was especially in love with raw, not overly polished (as in Swedish grindcore) sound. All this raw growling and screaming is just like a cry from the grave! Haha! This is a very rare phenomenon for me, but the front art loses to art on the inside, which is not often seen. The cover shows the simplest zombie apocalypse, which is very common; but the insides is made on the highest level! These dried blood stains on the old yellow paper background… Well-chosen font for lyrics and info, mixed with the excellent picture design is very, very pleasantly surprising for me! Hats off to the designer!
