Cystgurgle / Vomitoma

Gorenoise is definitely not a place for cowards. The split I'm about to review will explain why. We have here two very nasty and heavy projects. Cystgurgle (Thailand) and Vomitoma (USA) have prepared for you a ton of filthy and harsh material. The sounds of sonic vomit will smash and melt you down, but on the other hand this tape is full of fun! I want start with the first name on this split, the duo Cystgurgle. My aquaintance with this act started with their 7” Regurgitant Slurp Of Mashed Embryo, I was really surprised with their massive and dirty sound and monstrous bass guitar sound. However, this material is something different. The whole concept is more borderline Gorenoise, everything is very dirty and noisy. Bass riffs have turned in some kind of mess, so its function more like background sound. The main thing that you will hear (and what will damage your hearing) is the snare sound. It's ridiculously loud and has high ringing sound. Second thing is the vocals, distorted and horrible these vocals are the audible variant of vomit stench. I must say I really dig this new Cystgurgle. The second band is a legendary one man machine, Vomitoma. Raw, liquid,putrid sound that slowly begins eating you… That's how I can describe this shit, ha! God damn, these pitch shifted vocals sound really loud and dreadful (btw, that is a mainstay here). I like the bass too, I can almost recognize some of the riffs. Here's one small but, very worthwhile addition. Live drums that were recorded by Adrian (Putrefuck). The blastbeats are a bit punky and goofy but they combine very well with the vocals. Only the last song has super annoying drum-machine that drills your head like crazy. That track was really the last nail in the coffin of cowards, haha! Rating: 8/10

Craniophagus Parasiticus Records started in Toronto, Ontario, in October 2015. The label focuses on making cassette releases for gorenoise, noisecore, goregrind, and power-electronics projects from all over the world. Every release is DIY and I aim to keep it that way. NOT SAFE FOR COWARDS.

Cephalophore / Cystoblastosis / Meatal Ulcer / Chaotic Sound(Craniophagus Parasiticus Records)

To gorenoise or not to gorenoise - that is the question :) Mailman brought me a pretty nice tape. And it consists of 4 dirty gorenoise bands from 4 different corners of the planet. I‘ve been examining the cover and could not understand what scene was depicted on it, but then it hit me! It`s final battle scene from Dune movie, when Paul Atreides (aka Muad'Dib) kills heir of Harkonnen throne to revenge for the death of his father (yep I’m just a big fan of old si-fi movies, haha). But let’s get back to our rotten corpses. This split is opened by Canadian band which is called Cephalophore. They made their mark with one and a half minute track here haha! It`s pretty primitive (as it should be according to the genre) gorenoise mess with dense riffs and electronic drums (which insistently buzzes in the ears).Then goes the gangrenous Russian trio Cystoblastosis. I don’t like them much, mostly because they add too much rawness and noise into their sound. But, on this record, guys have finally caught a good balance, the perception of the tracks is simple and the dirty sound doesn't hurt your ear. And also I must admit that they stopped worshiping Agathocles and came to gore side. Next is Meatal Ulcer band. They really stand out among other gorenoise bands. But on this records, everything sounds somehow stale...the vocals still sound the same but the sound is different. Everything sounds kind of dry, without volume, no bulldozer power as it used to be. ((( Brazilian Chaotic Sound didn’t impress me at all... I`m not a fan of those super short noisecore tracks, yep, they added the distortion vocal here but what’s the point? In general, for the fans of 3-6-second tracks, this band is gonna be a good way to clear your mind. But alas, I’ll pass...

Parazitosis /Cephalophore (Craniophagus Parasiticus rec, Grindfather prod)

Oh, this split is full of old and sick pictures of various scenes of people being tortured. Skull trepanation, skin removal... and a lot more. Those who made these images are sick freaks :) Not even mentioning the bands from this record... Hungarians Parazitosis in cooperation with Canadian Cephalophore produced really disgusting split, hehe!) Parazitosis can be called a one man band, as it is run by Marci, the only permanent member who wrote almost all the material. Only 5 minutes of music was recorded for this tiny tape release. 4 tracks in total. But believe me, these songs sound just like the stench of rotting bodies. Guitar riffs are mixed with fast and punchy rhythms. Vocals also sounds fucked up with pitchshifter, but there's also just harsh black-metal pieces and sometimes even growl. Drum section is not too fast, but it emphasizes coolness of this whole ugly mess. And all the above said is delievered with raw disgusting sound. Cephalophore is the Canadian duo. Their sound is more like gore-noise than usual goregrind. For track intros guys sampled some monologues / dialogues from cartoon about Korgoth the barbarian. Absolutely fucked up cartoon, as the well as what these guys are playing)) Electronic drums is not the killer feature of their sound, although they don't spoil it at all. The main noise is created by distorted vocals, it is very overdriven here. Most of all I liked this guitar riffs and sound of guitar is quite good in general (for such a rotten music). And in the very end guys perform a cover of Disgorged Foetus. 

Rating: Parazitosis: 7,5 / 10 Cephalophore: 7/10
