Blood – Impulse To Destroy - Live At Obscene Extreme 2015 (Noise Not War Records)

Back in 2015 Obscene Extreme had a lot of good (or not so good, haha) bands. During these black days legendary German bombers Blood have also played. Their set was recorded and now I hold the result of it in my hands, a small one but, quite disgusting cassette. The most interesting thing about this live recording is that the guys have played the best hits from their debut album, Impulse To Destroy. No matter that these guys' heads are gray-haired now but they play just like 20 years ago, with that wild and angry energy! I've heard a lot of live recordings and this is not of the greatest quality, but I hear the live energy and the feedback of the venue. The songs strike into listeners one after another and make them mosh under the scene. Blood just press the listener into a bloody omelet with their low and filthy sound. I am certain enough that this was true madness to all the fans of old school...and the guys in ACxDC and Magrudergrind T-shirts just stood aside with no idea why all these people mosh like it's the last days of their lifes, ahahaha!

The other side of this modest release is the front art. The author is a good artist, Pierre from Braindead zine/Blue Holocaust. This guy feels the true dark atmosphere of that times' underground scene and old times of grind and put it into the art. If you look attentively at the picture, you'll see that this skull is pierced with a sword which is held by a living corpse on the original artwork of Impulse To Destroy.

Erectile Dementia / Sedem Minut Strachu (Noise Not War Records)

Hey slob heads from all over the globe! This split is for you, hahaha!) And this split is pretty nice, I'm really happy that labels managed to release it this year... So I will not bore you with long stories, here are few words about each band, enjoy!)

Erectile Dementia is one of the projects from a famous bearded man Doug Long (Brody's Militia, Funerary Box, Hellnation). This guy is pretty versatile and he knows how to create interesting music. The music of E.D. exactly rehearse the cover art of this split, hehe) Here you will hear crazy rhythms and have fun. Here you will hear old school noise-core, grindcore, hardcore punk and some metal. The sound is a little bit raw and that's create an atmosphere of 90th (at least I was thinking so). So, at the end I can say that all sounds are surprisingly interesting and spiritedly.

The second band on this split is Sedem Minut Strachu. Hm, I wonder who the hell is shown in this picture. That sexual character looks like some gypsy pimp, hahah!) Wow, it’s pretty unexpected but guys added traditional gypsy songs to their sound (the text and everything else is written in gypsy language too). The SMS are famous for their noisy strong music, those guys really know how to create a strong acoustic pressure that is significantly compresses the psyche (just last year they visited Japan and USA). That noise-grind is primitive but there is something inside those screams and noises... you can hear some certain primitiveness and crudeness in those stuff. And that is for what I love these guys!

Bodyhammer – Full Noise (Noise not War)

Have you ever felt like the information you get makes your face expression really (and I mean REALLY) surprised? Well, that's how surprised I was when I started to look closely on the Bodyhammer's tape cover. What is the shortest lifespan for a music band could be? Year? 6 months? Hell, no! These two crazy grindheads from Portugal formed Bodyhammer, and two days later they stopped it! But during these two days (December, 20th - December, 22nd, 2013) they did a live show and recorded 13 minutes of their stuff. They released it on tapes (by the way, I should note it's very cool to release first demo on tapes) with help of Noise Not War label.
To be honest, I expected just improvised noisy raw stuff, especially when you look at the title of the tape "Full Noise". But turns out it's pretty good raw grindcore, just as raw as it needs to be in this kind of music. It's pretty obvious that they handle the instruments pretty well, and the overall demo deserves quite an applause.
This tape contains 9 tracks. And if I'm not mistaken, the photo on the cover was taken from crazy Japanese movie Tetsuo: The Iron Man released in 1989. Also I like that the tapes are in fact colored, which is always a pleasant thing for me, hehe)

Fiend - Derailed (Noise not War)

Last year I noticed a few really good releases and also some great interesting bands that I’ve never heard until then. Fiend is one of those bands… I guess grindcore duos is a pretty generic thing nowadays, but these guys made me remember them for a long time. Maybe I’m over-praising them, but if you don’t believe me, see for yourself – the reaction and comments of grind freaks are pretty praising too, hehe)
Now back to our American psychos. Right now there’s a tape EP called Derailed in my hands. It was released by British label Noise Not War, white tape and black cover, good contrast. The artwork is somewhat fancy, a lot of screws all over the ground. I’ve never seen something like this. But still looks good. Also, it’s limited to 100 copies, so if you miss your chance to buy this – too bad.
On this tape there’s a material from 2014. Only 9 tracks (basically it’s the only thing that makes me sad about it, ‘cause I’m really tired to turn the tape)
I remembered Fiend because of their love for old school sound. Raw, but still listenable, juicy and in-your-face… These 9 tracks will blow your head like an AK round! To be honest, I still cannot believe that all this noise was made by two people, it’s like an entire storm of aggressive grindcore approaching me from the amps. Superb EP, to say the least.
