Double Me - Destroyed In A Second

We know Italy as an impulsive and emotional nation… But, the guys from Double Me showed a ton of dead patience. Destroyed In A Second is their first full length and they poured every bit of raw emotion into this slab of wax. This album was delayed many times, master lp was denied a few times and even the recording session was delayed. It seems that this album was cursed, haha. Even the parcel with this album was lost and came to me in damaged condition after two month of waiting. So I can't skip this album, there were so many struggles around this noise, the least I can do is write a few words about it.
This material was recorded without guitars, so we have here just pure Drum and Bass Violence. I must admit that it took me some time to dig this album. The noise is not exactly what I'm used to, so I tried to listen to it again and again, and that was worth of it. The tremoring sound of the bass guitar is not super heavy, it has no ultra low or ugly distorted effects, but it sounds very nice (this is one of the strongest points of this album). The drums are a bit sloppy, but I still like them… The whole material feels slow (if I`m able to call Powerviolence slow), but I believe that is the trick, because I hear that the riffs are fast and I feel/hear good fast blasting parts, but even after my 3rd time listening my brain refused to call this noise fast. That is very tricky stuff. Ah yes, the vocals. There are a few kinds presented here, classical yelling and growls, I must say that these guys overdid it with the growls and a lot of vocal parts sound boring. Visually this LP is really hard to define as a Powerviolence release. This gray painting looks unusual, it's confusing, I believe that upon first glance, people will be thinking this is Post Hardcore but, not Powerviolence. But on the other hand this breaks the rules, which is really cool. Rating: 7.5/10 Double Me fb Double Me bc

Double Me / Han Solo

Take a look at how hardcore seeds richly sprouted on Italian soil! Every year, the roots penetrate and grow deeper, and the fruits of this plague are becoming more and more juicy. We are eating one of these fruits today. Although this split is not the latest one, it still did not lose its taste. Hmm, I recognize the style of the artist who designed the previous release - Double Me. Only now he portrayed bound hands covered with sores ... what a gloomy image! :)

Hmm, I note that the Double Me sounds a little denser on this release, which pleases us even more. Even the songs are a little fiercer and livelier. New and improved Double Me still mix hardcore, punk and powerviolence. The guys know what they're doing, and they always try to give it their all. Their side is easy to remember thanks to the simple, yet good rhythm, pleasant bass guitar intro and certainly evil, grim vocals.

But I somehow didn't get hooked on the tracks by their countrymen from Han Solo. Their record is too crude and noisy. The part that I could make out was not very bad. Hysterical screams, fast and aggressive pieces in songs. And Han Solo used only bass, which sounds very impressive. But despite all the efforts, the sound is what brought the guys down.

Double Me: 7.5    Han Solo: 6/10

Double Me / Lifes (Here And Now!)

What's up guys, here we've got a small portion of pretty nice material. This Italian-American split doesn't pretend to achieve the main prizes in extreme music competitions, but trust me you should listen to this. Both bands play hardcore/powerviolence and both do it good. The cover art of this release is quite strange, I couldn't understand what the artist wanted to say depicting these creepy rotten legs (with injection dots on it) but it doesn't matter, the cover art isn't a main thing. Double Me is not some one year old band and with each new release they're becoming better and better. On this split you can hear 5 vigorous and angry tracks. That's very nice that the guys have packed maximum energy in their recording and that can be felt by your ears. Their sound doesn't have that basement rawness, everything here is excellently mixed, all instruments sound apart of each other and don't run into one piece of filth which is very important in such kind of music. Especially I love the bass sound here, its crunchy tone nicely underlines the total image.

Double Me!

Double Me started in November 2012 by an idea of Marco (drums), Sonny (bass), Marco (guitar) and Mirco (vocals).
We wanted to play fast and rough powerviolence, a mix of new and old school, with grind parts. At the beginning of 2013 we have our first cdr demo, then we releases two 7”s split (w/ Lifes in 2014 and w/ HanSolo in 2015). In the meanwhile we have some songs on several compilation. At the end of 20015 Marco (guitar) decided to leave the band and we chose not to look for another guitarist but to go on as a 3 man band. During this period we shared the stage with bands loki Coke Bust, AcxDC, Implore, Citizen Patrol and many others.
