This is a great split in terms of get-up, everything’s done on a firm paper and has a stylish color performance. Holding it in your hands is a true joy.
First band that opens up this split is Jugular Scars from harsh city of Quebec. Their music has elements of punk, powerviolence and some grindcore. Their songs are short and full of energy. Vocals reminded me of Spazz and Infest (the American one, of course). Also I should note coherent guitars that doesn’t sound too brutal and over-the-top and fits perfectly. And one more pleasant addition here is a crunchy bass. There’s also one funny thing, an “apple” on their side of vinyl is decorated with a picture of very yummy meaty still life, hehe!
Now let’s listen to the other side of vinyl. Instantly we can hear light joyful noise that transits into increscent and groovy intro. Vengeance has one minor, but nevertheless, interesting feature: two vocals, male and female. They sound differently on the degree of hysteria and complement each other. Their sound is a bit simpler and directed more into punk and powerviolence. But still it sounds cool, like their Canadian friends, just in its own way. There are not much coherence in the instruments that Jugular Scars has, and fortunately, it doesn’t prevent from enjoying these 4 minutes of noisy violence at all!
