Haemorrhage (16.10.13)

Hi, Luisma, thank you for interview! How’re you doin’, how’s the weather?

Hi Alexander! You're welcome to the Morgue! Weather is still ok. A little cold and cloudy  in the morning and hot and sunny in the afternoon. Pre-autumn days here...

Recently you performed in Mexico, what was the impressions about that great country? Is their tequila good?

My first impression was looking to Mexico DF from the airplane...fuck! This is a really big town. The experience was so killer we need to do it again. Mexican people was really cool and the gig was a killer one. We played lots of covers of spanish punk bands as special gift to the mexican people. Well I didn't drink Tequila, but I drank two of the most famous beers worldwide CORONA and MODELO...amazing!

I know that you have kids. Is it difficult to to have both band and usual life? ‘Cause Haemorrhage are pretty active and keeps up the pace.

Yes this is dificult if you try to look like a normal family, ha, ha...Seriously I try to do both things but for me my children are always the first option.
Now you’re preparing to release your new album. In what morgue do you record your creation? Will it be Relapse, or the other?

Yes we are working on a new album and it will be on Relapse. We will tell more details soon. We are still doing the first songs.

Let’s delve into the history. Say, what was your most fierce and savage gig? I know that Exhumed in 90’s had absolutely crazy concert with a lot of blood and gore on the scene.

Hard to say only one. There were too many. In the last year Obscene Extreme was so fucking wild. Just whatch the videos. They speak by themselves.

Time goes by and Haemorrhage sounds louder and louder. Lately I found a video where you’re advertising the strings. Tell us about it, please, the company found you or the otherwise?

Yes we are endorsed by 666 strings that is a german guitar bulider. I recommend you to take a look on their website cause they have many fucking crazy guitars, even if you are not a musician you will like to see their guitars. They came to a gig in Germany and they did that small interview. I hope they have told this before coming so I wouldn't drink so much beer. If u watch the video and you listen to me you can motice I am a little drunk ha, ha...

Also, I know that you performed in Moscow. It would be interesting to know, is there any plans to visit other post-soviet countries? (in Kiev I’ll provide an excursion personally)

Well after your offer we should clearly visit Kiev!!! ha, ha...I fell in love with Moscow, really...it was December and the town was so melancholic, sad, vast...I really loved Moscow. I came from a different culture with sunlight, people walking on the streets everytime...Moscow was the opposite and that caught my soul forever.

I think that it wouldn’t be a mistake to say that you like punk scene very much. Maybe you always wanted to make something like Punk Carnage? I should notice that it’s pretty good release.

Well we grew up listening to Punk and Metal. If we wanted a tribute to our chilhood we had two options: An album with songs of Iron Maiden, WASP, Ozzy etc or an album of punk covers. We have choosen the second one. Spanish punk is so fucking good. In my eyes Spain is better that other countries only in Punk and Grind.

The band’s age is more than 20 years already. And there’s a lot of a great job done, and all the fans are thankful for that. What most important moments in your history would you highlight?

I think one of the most important moments was when we signed with Morbid records in 1994 cause we were the first spanish band in signing with a foreign label and also our first European tour in 1996 cause it opened our eyes and minds. We thought we were a very small unknown band but we went there and we saw we had many many fans. In those times there was no internet so we didn't have many ways to know our fans etc.

What inspires you to write such bloody and gore lyrics? Horror films, morgue visits, or evening TV news?)

In the beggining it was more the movies or medical books. Now its only our mind and all the shit we put in our brains in all these years.

As I recall you’re the cover artist for the most of your releases. Tell us about the process of creating such artworks (ideas, storylines, etc). Do you help the other bands with the artwork?

Yes, I also worked for other bands like Cliteater, Impetigo, Krydome, Exposed Guts and more...if anyone needs an artwork at a nice price just contact me! ha, ha... Well with Haemorrhage I just let my mind run, but when I work for other bands I need to know their ideas, lyrics etc...

I think that’s great when women perform heavy music. I should say Ana fully copes and beat the crap out of everyone with her performing. What draw your attention to her when you decided to take her in the band?

Ana was my girlfriend so I wouldn't get her in the band only cause she was pretty. I needed someone that play really well and she could play better than me. What more I needed? She is a very good guitarist but you can t see this in Haemorrhage. I would like she can release a solo album or something.

There was a tour in Japan in 2006, a few bands were lucky to play there. Is there a great difference in crowd and atmosphere on the scene, compared to Europe? Were there any difficulties? (I think it would be interesting to know especially for the ones who plan to make some noise there)

Japan is a fucking great country. People is pollited, and kind. They aren't as aggresive as we are in Spain or Europe in our current life, but they get crazy at the shows. Its a big contrast, I recomend all the bands to play there but don't expect big venues or festivals.

Can we expect split album Haemorrhage and Agathocles?  Especially on a cassette, it would be awesome.

It would be nice. We are old friends, I personally love Agathocles and Jan is one of the best guys I've seen in my life in the grind scene.
Every gorehead wonders what has Haemorrhage prepared for the next year? Is there some plans for 2014?

New album first. Then we have to go to Wien in March and coronate Gutalax and new goregrind gods when we retire!! ha, ha...We have some fest for 2014...you will see....

What’s your opinion about “release 1 printing of album/split and never re-release it” thing?

I have no special opinion about this if someone like this is ok. I can't tell other people how they should handle their bands. We will do what we like and not for this you are more "true" or not...

Well, that’s all, thank you so much for this interview! We would like to hear some final words to the fans.

Thanks to you and all the fans overthere We fucking love you and we would like to drive our ambulance through your town streets someday.
