Cannibal Ferox (18.08.15)

Hi, folks! Finally, I've taken an axe to laziness and drawn up a questionnaire for you. How are you doing?)

Michael: Hey man!! Here we are, on holidays but gettin ready to kick asses again onstage! Hope you're great aswell!

So, I can't slur your band-name over. Who of you is a fan of Umberto's Lenzi works? And why did you take a shine to Cannibal ferox exactly?)

Abel: All the members we are fans of the old horror and gore movies, including the 70s italian exploitation. Lenzi, Deodato,Fulci,Argento… is not a special reason to choose the name of Cannibal Ferox. Just one night, after some beers we decided it. Maybe the beer decided for us.

Recently, you've released total diy demo (which is freaking awesome to be emited in cassette format),but how about your future plans? What has Cannibal Ferox in store for us?

Michael: Well, tapes have flown away and it's time to make a reissue because there are many people who want their copy. For this year, we are gonna try to release new stuff (which you can find in our bandcamp page), a split LP and CD with our friends in Encabronation. For the next year, we have in mind record another split, this time with Disturbance Project and start working on our first full lenght album.

It's not the same with everybody, but when I listened to that before-mentioned demo, it seemed to me, that you must enjoy Machetazo - is that so? Who else influenced your music?

Michael: Machetazo is our main influence. In our beginning we used to play like 4 or 5 songs of them in the rehearsal room. Killer band and very nice people. And of course, we are influenced by other grindcore and death metal bands such as Repulsion, Looking for an Answer, Bolt Thrower, Grave, Phobia, and other dbeat bands as Discharge, Doom, etc. There's a bunch of great bands we like to listen to.

Fanbase is indefeasible part of band's entity- how strong is feedback? Have you gathered good support?

Michael: I can say we have a good support specially in our area (Valencia) by other bands (Encabronation, El Hambre, Trocotombix, Automuro, Brutal Freack....) and headbangers in general, and everywhere we go we get a great feedback. Being in a underground scene allow us knowing great people who really supports the scene: Gerardo from Disturbance Project and Rageous Intent (former Denak), Dopi from Machetazo now in Bodybag, our mates in Human Butchery and Pedro from Hecatombe Records, Berton and all the Cantabrian people who went crazy at our last show there, Pablo from Mono Canibal Records, basque people in Mutilated Judge, etc., etc.

Let's wander from the music and switch to pickups. Which dynamite spanish alco (to schiz out totally) would you recommend?)

Michael: There's some crazy stuff here in Spain: orujo de hierbas, coffee liquor, strong wines, really tasty beers and all weed and hash you can smoke hahahaha.

Maximum attention and concentration all. Tell us, please, who's more scaring: a horde of zombies or a cannibal tribe?) (Reason why, please)

Abel: A tribe of cannibal zombies, of corpse!

When were you blessed with that great thought "Holy shit! I must found the group fucking!"?

Michael: For me, "reaching" that level it's not something special because on the Internet is so easy to know new bands, listening to them two weeks and totally forget them as soon as they came to you. Otherwise, we enjoy a lot when people come to shows and enjoy with our rotten deathgrind, get our tapes and contact with us for playing shows and so.

Spain is famous for bullfights. Have any of you ever tried such an extreme, at least watching? Probably, you might have met angry bulls and fled for dear life, hehe.

Abel: I hate bullfights. the bests bullfighters are the dead ones. Fuck humanity. we need kill animals for showing to the world our supremacy? the humans are sick.

How do you think, which problems a young band may face? This is kind of a topical subject.

Michael: Being a young band it's something that has two faces: in one hand, playing and "old-fashioned" grindcore make us being a fresh band and it's easy to spread out our shit; in the other hand, the lack of money and job it's a problem 'cause we cannot go through good recordings, releasing stuff and touring as other people who have a job and can afford it. Shitty capitalist lifestyle, because when you have a job, you cannot do all things you want to do. Fuck it man!

Well, you're, actually, a young band too. So, how did you get acquainted with each other and create Cannibal Ferox?

Michael: Actually our band is formed by long time friends. Santi, Abel and me (Miguel) know each other for almost ten years. I've been playing in bands since I'm 15 so one day, in a show from an older band I used to play, Santi and Abel came with the idea of creating a grind/crust band, around 2009. Around the summer/fall of 2011, Santi got his first guitar and started rehearsing. For the rest of the band excepting me, Cannibal Ferox is their first project, it's crazy!

Let's delve into picturedom. Imagine: You are a given a whole night and a copious amount of beer. And you are to choose 10 best horrors to watch with friends. What is your preference?)

Abel: Zombie 1 & 2, The Masque Of The Red Death, Repulsion, Night Of The Seagulls, The Ghost Galleon, Return Of The Evil Dead, Tombs Of The Blind Dead, Pieces, Torso, The Last House On The Left. (not the remake)

Abel, please, don't take it as a rudeness, but you may be regarded by some people as a phreak, as you're pirsed and tattooed. Have you ever had any problems with that?

Abel: I never have any kind of problem with my tattoos or my piercings. its a way of life for me. I am tattoo artist since 2007. I love the ink and i feel so proud to have almost all my body covered with ink. I don’t care if people think I`m like a freak or something, I get tattoos on my body for me, not for people.

That's it. Hugest thanks and best luck!)

Thanks to you man! We really appreciatwe your support, hope we can see it and share beers and so someday! CxFx
