At the beginning of this year, you ride with a tour of the native country with your musical brothers of Internal Damage and WxTxDxHxRx. How was the tour? What crazy and curious situations took place? Did you felt all the horror from John’s (“ID”) snoring?)
That was very cool! Thanks to Lexa from “WxTxDxHxRx” for all the work that he has done! So many great recollections, bright moments, the tour is still in our memory!
Playing, joking, and drinking!) If we talk about the madness of the tour, they also had the place to be!) Of course we must remember that the most hell is going on in the Perm city. When night and day one brow girl sliced (or break) the head and there was half a place covered with blood) and under the final, the owner of the apartment hade woke up and just peed stupidly on the table standing in the room!)
Generally the tour was fucking awesome!
After the album release, we played a lot, and visited many cities, and after this we decided to take a pause to focus on the new material and new recordings. And what about band’s crew, there was no changings.
Well, a little more about the above-mentioned split, he-he Why Internal Damage, but not from foreign countries, to show your name to the world? By the way, how often do you have messages from abroad?
Why “Internal Damage”? This idea was a long time! Once Kostya from “ID” lived in Kazan and we played together. Indeed we are an old friends and such split should have seen the light just by default! Messages from abroad, - yes, and grindcore maniacs sometimes write respects and wishes, and this is very cool!
Changes are, and it is true. We experimented at first, each brought something to the songs of their own, such that some of the other styles! For today we came to what was planned but not fully realized initially. There is a saying - each group should find its face! So that’s how we found it. But a musical taste didn’t change even for a bit. We still listen to early albums of Napalm Death at our repetition base, and each time we find something new!)
You are not the first grind-formation from Russia in my journal, but I must ask that. Do you think grindcore activity is growing in your country? What local bands can you recommend to listen first of all?
It’s a serious question! Much that is called grindcore in Russia often it is not grindcore indeed, or it might be the other styles just with the prefix grind! This grind activity exists, but it is the wildest underground! But I think it must be so! As for me, I love music of “ID”, also we are great friends with Bryansk band “DCI”, and mince band from St. Petersburg “Camphora Monobromata” is great to listen too.
Eugene, what is it Grindcore for you?
Once I listened to a lot of different music, everyone had such a style search. But then you realize that really rips your head and feel as it called a habdabs indeed. Grindcore is the thing that cheers me up, inspires and gives me positive emotions!
There is something romantic about that, because the old school grindcore is played and listened by less people than, for example, deathcore. It seems that you are a part of something closed and unusual.
Grindcore has all the types of emotions! In other styles, I do not feel it!
If I’ll start from the very beginning, it will take about more or ten pages! In short, we are all an old friends, only Oleg our vocalist joined us later. We played music since school. Played and tasted a lot of different music and it was great! The idea to play grindcore came to us a lot of time ago, but there was a lack of musical experience. All ideas were hanging in the air, and sometimes we have been busy in other bands. In 2008 we began to grind! We recorded the album in 2009 which was released on “SFC rec”, and after this we had a tour with band from Finland “Torture Killer”! So, that’s how it all began!
Which personalities inspired you the most during the life? What bands have influenced you?
The first group that I listened to was “Nirvana”). And particularly the musical creations of that musician inspired me to play the guitar and composing. If we are talking about musical persons, in this case it is Egor Letov. And what about the bands that have already affected me there are lot of them. Certainly, it is “Napalm Death”, “Carcass”,”Nasum”, oldschool death metal bands. Each tape that we listened to was jammed into holes!
What do you think about the fact that music is pushing people for different actions? Especially some negative aftermath after this influence?
When some ideology that presented in music, appealed to something negative for any ideology it is a full shit! And what about lyrics of many gore grind and death metal bands, about guts and dismemberment I think that an adequate man will understand the whole meaning and will not go to the streets with swinging an axe!
How does the audience react to your music? What was the most fucked insane concert of your band?
There was Differently in different cities, different audience, but generally always positive! Once we played in Ufa, that was the tour with “Torture Killer”, and the audience acted a total madness in the hall and on stage Then from jumping from the scene and other vibrations it began to fall combos and huge portals right on people! The sound director of the club came to me in the break between songs and said, that I must say to the crowd to calm down. I answered that I can’t say that! Because this is fucking Grindcore!
It is known that each Russian has his own bear, Eugene, what is the name of your battle bear, and what do you feed him?
Funny question! My bear is vegan and damn lot of drinks! Nobody knows his name and he doesn’t remember it, because a lot of smoked weed))!
Which groups represent grindcore / crust in your understanding? Can you make a top list of your favorite bands/recordings?
Eugene Well, if I wll not tell you about the first two albums of Napalm Death this interview at all, no one will read)). Certainly, it’s them! The band “Nasum” brought a lot to this style! I am a great fan of “Regurgitate”, and when I’ve read in your interview, that they are not playing anymore, I drunk for a week with a grief. Also disbanded “Insect Warfare” is in the top positions of my grindcore list. I am interested in Swedish grindcore and crust bands! “G.O.D.”is what I heard recently! I really was caught into their noise! Actually interested in and listening to oldschool grindcore bands, and all that I see in this direction is interesting to me!
Now, tell us a little about the movies Which do you like more, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” or “Hellraiser”?
Both of the movies are magnificent! And so I look mostly as is customary fashionable to speak “an art House reels of film”!) Yes, such kind of movie delights me. In Russia, especially know how to make perishable movie!)
