Last Days Of Humanity & Satan's Revenge On Mankind (Splatter Zombie Records)

It`s gore time! Perverted German label Splatter Zombie Records just released a new split CD with two interesting bands. There are two very known names… But let`s listen to this thing with a cold mind. We should not jump out our pants because of new LDOH and SROM. Calm down my friends and let's sort all this shit. First of all let's face it this cover art sucks… A few logos and capitalized word GORE. But, then inside are two separate covers for both bands and they are awesome. Looking at these bodies on LDOH cover. It`s not disgusting or vulgar, that image just looks perfect (by the way it was drawn by Luisma/Haemorrhage). Satanic goat from SROM looks great too. Especially with one eye, hahaha that beast is so monstrous. On this note we finished our review of the visual part of this CD, now it`s time for some noise!
This split is starting with LDOH. Sadly it's not a new recording, these 7 songs are moldy live recordings that were made in 2006 (more than 10 years ago). I can say that this is one of the best things from this band. If you will listen to this record more closely you will be able to catch some goofy moments (but I guess it`s pretty nerdy occupation). Hmm this recording sounds more like early LDOH (which is good too). Guitar and bass sound is dirty and pretty messy (but it must be like that). Unfortunately the drums don't stand out from the sound wall. Only Erwins vocals, break and fills the entire space. I guess that was a nice show but unfortunately I can't say that this live recording is brilliant.
Next are German savages from Satan's Revenge On Mankind. These maniacs prepared only two songs, these two are really good. First song started with some nice slow groove… and ended with middle tempo dancing rhythms. Maybe someone would say that these tunes are too slow for gore music, but personally I don't think so. The last song is more aggressive, this one sounds more powerful but, with the same dark doom atmosphere. The guitar and drums sound is really good, it`s low and deep… and those satanic distorted vocals are like a cherry on top of the cake. So maybe it`s not the greatest gore split ever, but this release is worth a listen, and of course its worth it to be in your nasty collection. Rating: LDOH 7.5/10 SROM 8/10

VHS - Screaming Mad Gore (Splatter Zombie Records)

Homies, do you remember the age of VHS? This analog atmosphere and specific image? No? But what about those three canadian friends, they are fallen in deep love with those beautiful times they even named their band after this format. The theme of old school horror movies is continued in the cover art too, very good idea, old good zombie crawling from the hills made of cassetes (also look at the cassetes, look at the films listed on it). I won't say this is a unique idea but it suits to the band's image.

The noise of wind, creaks of old doors and other spooky sounds... I can't imagine a better intro The further we go, the more interesting it becomes... I don't know how to describe VHS in a proper way, there is a lot of different stuff...here we got an old rotten death metal, a little bit of grind, and just heavy metal guitar riffs (so you can bang your hair, ahahaha). And all this disgusting and insane mix is flavoured with endless horror thems. Disgusting slime just drops from these guitar riffs, these hoarse vocals, I have an impression that this is the ghoul growls when he dig another grave, ahaha. Screaming Mad Gore went to be very complicated and different, sometimes funny, sometimes dark and atmospheric, and sometimes just crushing like pneumatic press (which used for recycling old cars).

Smut - Slop (Splatter Zombie Records)

It`s a little sad for me to write this review... all because this band existed for a very short time, they recorded a badass album and then split up. The Smut had a very well known members, guys from Blood Freak, Frightmare, Fornicator, Witch Vomit, Lord Gore... and that says a lot. Like in the bands mentioned above the Smut works mostly in horror and gore themes. Not even "mostly", those topics are everywhere here, hahaah!) Just looks at this cover... this combination of so many evil monsters, there are so many evil eyes looking at you, and also all this fangs and claws... It looks very cute ;)
But most of all I will remember not the tracks themselves, by its sound... it`s a little bit raw and breathes the atmosphere of evil... it`s like a cold wind that chills to the bone. This death-gore filled with good guitar riffs, mid-tempo rhythms (which will uniformly crumble your flesh) and this vocal reminiscent generally dissatisfied growl of a cave man, ahahaha! Hmthere is nothing to say more about, this album is just great and is likely to appeal to fans of the old school. Rating: 8.5/10 Smut fb
